EQUIPMENT

In this section many DJ's may become quite technical and give vivid descriptions, of equipment specifications that may bamboozle and baffle potemtial clients. We hope that anyone reading this section of the Website are able to ascertain the type of equipment we use and visualise it from the pictures on the site.

I am always self-sufficient, as feasibly possible, and carry my own DJ stand. Venues may need tables for their function and not have one specifically for the entertainment, so mine is always to hand. Manufactured by Ultimax, the goalpost stand is a versatile and professional stand to mount lighting on and allow DJ's to cue the music thoughout the function. I also have additional tripods for further lighting if required.

Our speakers are 400w Deltec and are 'top of the range' in their field. These are mounted on top of tripods and give out crisp and punchy sounds at a volume that is comfortable for any dancefloor. We have additional Smartsound tops and subs speakers for bigger functions and marquees. All our amps are flight cased and connected via modern cabling to the main Gemini CD-Mixer unit with 10 channels. Spare equipment is always carried as no piece of equipment can ever be 100% operational and we would never want to cease the music if on the odd occasion, some apparatus failed. Potential clients are always advised to check this with discos, as it is a good indication of their professionalism and reliability.

Lighting is also another consideration and we possess 13 intelligent lighting effects (6 in pairs), originating from manufacturers such as Zoom, Chauvet and Martin. Typically 4 or 5 of these will be sufficient to illuminate a large dancefloor of up to 300 people. I have additional Laser effects and a mirror ball to add a furhter dimension if preferred on the Goalpost stand. Many of the lights can be connected via DMX cables to synchronise their displays. Our engineer has provided wiring that is as minimal and neat as possible into our central controller on top of the CD-Mixer unit. The lighting effects are connected to the goalpost stand via Kwik and G-clamps and are all IEC connected to the main controller.

The stand is further enclosed by a totally new effect that has become very popular with many discos, the Starcloth. This consists of a patterned LED backdrop that hides all the wires and adds to the visual impression of the rig.

Additional equipment is also available such as a bubble machine and other effects that can be requested on booking.

All the equipment is tested during August as part of the necessary Portable Applicance Regulations that many venues enforce.
